Example Electrical Single Line

For large power distribution systems, an electrical single-line diagram is often used to illustrate the entire system or specific sections. This type of schematic highlights the main power sources, breakers, loads, and protective devices, offering a comprehensive view of power flow within the system.

In single-line power distribution diagrams, even in a three-phase system, each load is typically represented by a simple circle that includes a description and power rating (usually in kilowatts, kW). Unless otherwise noted, the power ratings indicate running power consumption. The image below shows a section of an electrical distribution system at a nuclear power plant.
